5 Ways To Self-Care

At the start of a new year, we all tend to make a list of dreams and goals we hope to accomplish. Some of us want to move or land their dream job, some dream of going on a beautiful vacation, or even just changing up their morning routine.

Regardless of any dreams you may have, we believe the key to making them come true is consistently taking care of yourself. After all, we can’t expect to have the time and energy to dedicate to our goals without self-care. We put together a list of easy ways to care for yourself which will help ensure 2017 is your most beautiful year yet 💙

  1. Start your day with a glass of water. We’ve all heard how important hydration is, but with busy schedules and everyday happenings, it’s easy to put drinking water at the bottom of your priority list. Make it a habit to drink a glass of water (with lemon if you’d like!) upon waking up – you’ll feel a little more cleansed and ready to take on the day.

2. Move. This can be a difficult one, especially for those of us with desk jobs. However, making it a point to take a walk or stretch for at least 15 minutes a day will allow you to clear your mind which is essential to successfully reaching goals.

3. Express Yourself. Self-expression is a key component to self-care. Take care of your thoughts & feelings by sharing them. In addition to taking care of yourself, you never know who you might inspire with your story. For those of us who are a little more shy or don’t have the tendency to openly share our thoughts, writing is a wonderful way to express oneself.

4. Indulge. This one might sound counterproductive, but trust us: indulging is so necessary. Although making your dreams come true requires true dedication, it is okay to allow yourself to break the rules every once and awhile. If your routine and expectations become too rigid, you will ultimately be unhappy. So, eat the piece of chocolate or sing in the car at the top of your lungs at a red light – do what makes you feel good.

5. Take your time. This day and age, it’s so easy for us to get caught up in fast-pace schedules, the stress of staying on top of deadlines, etc. Remind yourself to slow down every once and awhile to truly experience the moments that are passing. Stop to take deep breaths when you can. You deserve it.
